Leaf Soup
Leaf Soup
This activity takes a few minutes to set up and is great to build fine motor skills, engage in imaginative play and extend vocabulary. It is also a reflection of the colours and swirling leaves of fall.
Z absolutely loved this sensory bin and played with it for about 2 hours! He started with pouring and mixing the soup. There was lots of discussion surrounding colours, temperature and flavour of the soup.
He later asked for a measuring cup as he needed to measure out his ingredients!
We added in some extra bowls and items throughout. I always let him lead and add whatever he likes.
I hope your little one’s enjoy this simple activity too!
What do you need?
A large tub
Warm water
A few drops of red and yellow food colouring
Acrylic leaves
Mixing bowl
Whisk
Serving spoon
Splash mat
Then...
- Add the warm water to the tub and add in the the food colouring. Swirl together until it’s well mixed.
- Pop in the leaves and it’s ready! I like to leave the utensils and bowl on the side so he can decide what he’d like to do first!
